Judicial Separation (న్యాయపరమైన విడిపోవడం)

A court decree that releases spouses from the duty to live together without dissolving the marriage — a legally recognised pause, not a divorce.

Example

A wife facing cruelty, but unsure if she wants a permanent end to the marriage, petitions for judicial separation under Section 10 instead of divorce.

Where You'll Come Across This

Frequently confused with divorce in exam answers — the marriage legally continues after this decree, so neither party can remarry.

Common Mix-Up: This is not "a milder divorce." The marriage remains fully intact in law; only the duty to cohabit is removed.
